The dagger is a ceremonial tool in Wicca. When used as such it is referred to as an athame. Traditionally it has a black handle and is double edged but that is not required. In ritual it is used to direct energy, draw symbols in the air or ground, command spirits and in the casting of a circle. Some use it to also cut herbs and to inscribe objects. Others prefer to use another white handled knife with or without a curved blade to do that. The one with a curved blade is referred to as a boline.

I LOVED these vids George. Just ordered some soy wax yesterday! I have a ton of herbs and oils lying around that I can never think of anything to do with, since I do so much candle magick instead… doi. I should’ve thought of candle-making sooner. xD
Ever try using auto-wick pins that fit in the bottom of the mold to make the wick holes? I would think maybe the hole in the middle would lessen the chance of getting a big hole in the top… I dunno, I’m unpracticed in this arena x3

BTW, my next project is organic hand creams. I have the materials needed and I will be making my first batch this weekend. Once I got it down I will do a video on it. Just not as long as this one.

I think I got bad wax, because no matter what I do it cracks. Tried pouring at lower temps, still cracked. Tried warming the containers first, still… tried a gradual cooling process, still cracked. However, I JUST made a batch of altar ointment today using the soy wax, EV olive oil and essential oils and it’s *perfect!* Has the consistency of lip balm.

Oh! Did you get the pillar wax? Mine has never cracked on me. Glad the ointment worked out.

Yep, I got pillar wax… not from the same site you did though, it’s a different brand. Naturewax or some such. I guess I should have went with your link instead of hunting on my own x.x

this video is very helpfull .. I just got the mold ( 3″ x 9.5″) .. started making my first pillar candle yesterday , just got done filling in the little bubble .. can’t wait till tomorrow to see how it comes out .. I think you should make a 4th video , on how to add color to the wax .. I tried to make some smaller red candles , and they came out peach like in color .. lol .. oh-well … Blessed Be ..

It’s a trial and error for the color. I made a black candle for a friend and had to use half a bottle of black to get it dark enough. The trick is that you get a piece of white paper and smear a bit on it. Let it cool and you will see the color of the wax when it is cooled.

If it is not dark enough add more color if it is to dark add more wax.

I want to make soy candles now, Do you use the same kind of dye that you use with paraffin candles?

Actually, I made a candle a few weeks ago using paraffin dye. It worked but I would try what you have there on a small batch to see if it works.

It seems to me that you put your finished upside down? The bottom of your candle looks great. I would set it upside down…

i have similar candle molds and they say the bit you say is the bottom is acshully the top
so the bit you messed up on, thats the bottom which it stands on!

I made my first candles yesterday. Your three videos helped me tremendously (I watched them twice and took notes as i listened so I’d have a guide while I made them). I’ll try a taller pillar next time. Thank you for uploading! Blessed Be!

This is alot easier, you don’t have to mess with the wick metal ends. Centering that wick in a jar is difficult..gonna try this one..thanks!
